Internet Connections

(August 25, 2011 Maglinte, Mayabon, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental) - This is my 2nd attempt to use the internet through Tattoo prepaid Supersurf50 via Windows Vista. Connection is not that stable like the first attempt. It could be the rain that is affecting the signal transmission. But it is working. We are planning to apply for  a Tattoo Prepaid. They have a new plan Php1,299 monthly for 5mbps.  I hope it will work fine.

Another option would be Smartbro but I doubt it will work here better than Globe. Last time we connect to them in Boloc-Boloc, Sibulan, we need to  buy extra post for the antenna that they installed above the roof. Its because there was a tall mango tree in between of the tower and our place. The signal could not get through it. Here, there are more tall trees than our previous location before. 

Zamboanguita is not equip with internet cables yet so we need to give this a try. We tried ITQest but the cost is too high and we could not afford it. But, if you use it for business, it could be worthwhile. That was before I found out that my Tattoo Stick is NOT compatible with Windows 7.

Possible Internet Connections in Zamboanguita:

• Globe Tattoo. Globe offers  both prepaid and postpaid connections. If you have the signal, then you can use their service. For prepaid, its Php20 per hour. They also offer SUPERSURF50 for one day unlimited use. If you choose prepaid, they have a great deal to offer.
• Smartbro. Depending on your locations if the surface has not that much disturbance like trees, tall buildings or hills, long distance from the tower,  then you could choose Smartbro.
• ITQest. They can connect wherever you are (especially in remote locations). They use point to point radio to reach their clients.They have plans from Php3,100 to Php9,900 of the speed from 512kbps to 1536kbps. The cost above is exclusive of the mast (mini-tower) which cost from Php2,240-Php19,040.
• Wi-free. It is a software you need to install in your pc. You need to have a Globe Tattoo stick or any  mobile broadband to connect. If you use Globe Tattoo, you dont need to have maintaining load to use it. But you need to reload minimal 1 peso from time to time so your sim will not expire. Wi-free vouchers can be purchased from the resellers. One voucher cost Php350 for one month activation.
• Satellite Internet. If your located to a place any cellphone signal is not available, then a satellite internet connection is preferred. Cost is very high of course for the installations and the satellite dish, etc plus the monthly fees.
